Welcome to Impulse Performance.

Dedicated to Helping Athletes Maximize their Potential

Our approach

I believe that the best way to get results is to let the body self-organize. I use training methods that provide constraints to let the athlete focus on the task at hand rather than overthinking the throw. My goal is to make each player the most athletic version of themselves.

Tyler Banks

Tyler Banks is a hard-working and competitive professional in the sports performance industry. He strives to help others reach their full potential on and off the field. He graduated from North Park University with a double major in Exercise Science and Sport Management. While he was there, he accumulated 11 wins, 2 saves, and 149 strikeouts.  Additionally in his time at North Park, Tyler wrote the lifting programs for the baseball team and wrote individualized throwing programs for each player. Tyler was also the strength and conditioning coach for a velocity camp offered by Windy City Baseball in the fall of 2021.

After 5 years at North Park, Tyler transferred to play at Butler University. In one year Tyler led Butler in innings pitched, 65.1, ranked second on the team in strikeouts with 46, and only walked 22 batters. He was selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll April 8th, 2024. Tyler went on to pitch professionally in the USPBL for the Westside Woolly Mammoths. Tyler is from Littleton, Colorado and played his high school baseball at Arapahoe High School.

  • Ben Whiteside, Butler University Pitcher

I have known Coach Banks for about a year, and he has significantly improved my development as a baseball player. His passion for pitching is evident in the detail he puts into writing programs, creating drills, and educating his players. Throughout high school, I encountered numerous trainers selling their pitching/velocity programs, often risking misinformation or being ripped off. Coach Banks stands out with a skill set that genuinely develops his players while providing high-quality service.

He has transformed my approach to pitching and provided drills that have immensely improved my athleticism. The throwing drills have simplified pitching, ingraining the necessary movements to become an elite thrower. With something as complex as pitching, keeping it simple is crucial. Additionally, he has provided non-throwing drills for arm rest periods, maximizing my development potential as a baseball player.

Overall, Tyler’s dedication and high level of care create an environment that fosters the development of tomorrow’s pitchers.

  • Bobby Bartlett: Northern Kentucky University Pitcher, Former North Park University Pitcher, 2024 Division Three 4th Team All-American, & 2024 CCIW Player of the Year

I am a former teammate of Tyler Banks and was able to see his own work ethic and his methods for training firsthand. First of all, Tyler Banks was consistently one of the hardest workers on the team and researched pitching and the pitching process more than anyone I have ever had the pleasure of playing with. He understands all the mechanics of pitching and also understands that everyone is unique. He led the process of creating unique programs for our entire pitching staff, individualized movements to help clean up mechanics, and strengthen their bodies as well as recovery movements to keep their arms healthy. While I will not speak on behalf of our other pitchers, I will say that I observed massive jumps in velocity from those who were using the programs Tyler had made for them. As for myself, the program Tyler made for me is the one I continually use today. It has cleared up much of my arm pain and has helped me gain 5-6 mph in the span of a year. Tyler’s approach and the program made specifically for me helped me receive an offer to pitch in Division 1 baseball for my last year of college eligibility. Tyler understands the mechanics of pitching and the movement required to create a successful blueprint to anyone hoping to further their baseball careers!

  • Julian Ledezma, Former North Park University Pitcher

I was able to work with Tyler Banks on pitching throughout my college career and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Tyler  has a deep understanding of pitching mechanics and immediately identified areas where I needed improvement. His ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and simple way made the session incredibly valuable. What stood out the most was his personalized approach. He tailored the drills and exercises specifically to my skill level, which helped me see immediate improvements in my technique. The use of video analysis was a game-changer as it allowed me to see exactly where I was going wrong and how to correct my form. Tyler was also incredibly supportive and encouraging throughout the lesson, making it a positive and motivating experience. By the end of the session, I had a clear plan for what to work on, and I’m already seeing progress. I highly recommend working with Tyler to anyone looking to improve their pitching skills. His expertise, personalized coaching, and supportive approach make him one of the best in the business.

  • Griffin Self, North Park University Pitcher

Since I started working with Tyler he has really been able to take my game to the next level. His pitching expertise and strength / conditioning program helped my performance on the field exponentially. With his help I have been able to achieve many personal goals on and off the field. I went from 78 mph to 88 mph in the span of a year and a half.

  • Hank Dodson, Professional Baseball Player in USPBL, Former Catcher at Utah Tech University New List Item

“These lifts are awesome. I feel my body moving better than before and have translated onto the field which has allowed me to become a better baseball player. The service is amazing. Tyler is always willing to do what’s best for you and is always working on finding the right solution for you.”
